Thanks for bringing us this thought provoking conversation.
I've been it IT all my life (I'm 67 now) & saw this coming 25 years ago, so I qualified as a plumber. A lot of fellow IT people qualified as lorry drivers for the same reason ... a backup career path.
None of us ever had to use the backup, as things didn't happen as quickly as we thought they might.
The bigger danger to us in IT during my working life in fact turned out to be global outsourcing - big industry chasing the lowest cost soluton around the globe regardless of the quality.
I'd strongly agree with Geoffrey & advise any young person today to think carefully and plan a career around what AI/Robotics will find the hardest to replace.
