I think AI should be free to learn just as we are. We all learn from each other and the world everyday. As an artist myself, I learned how to draw by emulating the work of artists and designers all around me. I didn’t have any of their permission. I understand, but I’m still getting tired of this scarcity based view that artists and other creators or whatever should be compensated or allow or disallow AI to learn from their work. This is an old way of thinking. What we’re talking about here is much bigger than anyone’s IP rights. It’s a new era of progress, innovation, and creativity driven by a new tool, the power of which is almost unimaginable. And I know that sounds crazy, but it’s where we’re at. Hang on to your old ways of thinking and you will get left behind like scribes, portrait painters, and military archers.
