hiiii. I have chronic pain in both my arms, back problems, and it's difficult for me to draw on a good day. I've been drawing for 14 years and I've been essentially disabled with pain for 9 of those years. Why don't I stop drawing though and use AI? if it sucks so much for me and actively causes me a lot of pain? Because art is so much fun! and I love doing it! and I enjoy using these skills I've practiced for a long time, to express myself, my emotions, and my thoughts!! I love the action of making art and I think the best hours of my life have been when I'm drawing, even when it hurts a lot. Am I any good? Who cares! Not to get all woo-woo spiritual, but I feel like people NEED to make art with their own bodies and tools for hours to help work out their emotions and decompress and understand who they are on a deeper level. Even if it's just happening subconsciously while you're drawing like the worst picture of a Sonic OC (no shade to sonic lovers) ever... to me it's not about the image, it's about the flow state and choosing what is and isn't important in your life to represent with your art. Disabled or not, talented or not, if you love art and have something to express you can find a way to enjoy making it. AI just seems like an excuse to cut out the only part of art worth doing, which is doing it, and the natural meditation on the self that occurs when doing art for hours. Is AI art valid? Is it good? Is it anything at all? Not qualified to say, I really have very little understanding of AI. But it just doesn't seem like it's any fun. And the people I see using AI don't seem like fun people who like enjoying themselves.
