If AI is used by those currently in power to retain that power then yeah we're screwed, but not by AI itself, it's so wields it, and they'll be our trillionaire overlords and it'll be multiple fiefdoms.
If we can use AI to take over all tasks and distribute the fruits of that labour evenly then humanity could thrive and move into creative fields using AI as a tool.
AI will cause a ton of disruption, we need to be more concerned about what it's used for, what purposes it is given, and that's dependent upon humans.
