A.I. are more limited than humans in certain ways, as they can only replicate and mix their source materials. I don't think purely A.I generated art could ever fully replace artists, with another reason being that A.I. can't judge art, it doesn't actually know what looks good or not.
It is much faster and cheaper though, so it depends on the use.
