You don't just hit a button, and AI makes the art. For it to win a competition it has to be more than just appealing. His expertise in artistic theory lead to the picture as well. The ai is not out there putting stuff out on it's own. Saying ai is not a tool is just as as pedantic as saying a dirt bike and a motor cycle are 2 entirely different things.
