To me, the difference between using ANY medium to make art by hand vs using Ai is that when making art yourself, YOU have full control over how the piece turns out with the skills you have. When using Ai, you are left to the mercy of the algorithm in the hope that you've given it enough information to give it what you want. It's almost like commissioning an artist for work, except you don't pay the machine for the "work" it's done and if you don't get exactly what you want, instead of asking for tweaks to the existing imagine, you roll the dice and try again.
