I test every AI model I am interested in on my real codebase, just one file with 3000÷ lines of c# code asking to refactor/improve. All fail miserably, while identifying what needs to be done correctly they completely fail at executing. Gemini 3 pro is by far the best, builds a good plan to optimize and refactoring, detailed instructions, even acknowledges its own limitations and proposes how to solve it piece by piece the best. Context window is enormous and it helps a lot.
