That si why some kind of mass extinction level event to get rid of the people that will neither be consumers nor workers is on the horizon. We are becoming obsolete and with 8 billion of us we are just with too many IF automation becomes so ubiquitous that even UBI won't be a solution. On the other hand, perhaps profits and work-for-pay is waning and corporations will operate out of altruistic vision and produce goods for free using the automation... oh no forget that one. I was thinking we all live in Utopia.
