*AI Bros:* I am inevitable! *Nightshade:* I am Iron... I mean, I am Nightshade! - snaps fingers - ...honestly, the most hilarious argument I've heard in this vein came from a friend of mine who's gotten really into Generative AI, and insists that the pushback - such as Nightshade - is *discrimination against people who can't draw.* It's one of those things where there's *so* many things wrong with the sentence, you don't even really know where to begin. Kind of like when you look for flaws in AI-generated art! Oh, one thing I think it's important to point out, related to the whole 'it's just INSPIRED by human art' argument... human beings *are* perfectly capable of creating slop that is just as soulless and copy-pasted as anything AI can produce. AI is just a way faster and cheaper way to produce such slop, and that is probably a big part of the reason for all those huge investments. The tech-bros are going "Say, you know that thing where you pay a bunch of hacks to write/draw/program 'something that is just like this popular thing, but just different enough that we won't get sued'? We've got a cheaper and faster way to do that! We call it the Artificial Hack!" And of course, all the C-Suite execs immediately go "Shut up and take my money!" - after all, their peons keep messing up those perfectly simple orders by injecting small amounts of messy *creativity,* and that is surely the only reason why mindless trend-chasing consistently fails to make them All The Money, like it obviously should...
