The whole premise seems wrong. Not all the tokens are the same. The mid tier models by Google/Anthropic/OpenAi are all in the same price range as Chinese largest models, and their capabilities are similar. Only the frontier models charges 20$/token. You can’t compare token price with different model capabilities. Gemini 3.1 flash which scores higher on LLM arena has an output price of 4.5$/tokens. GLM5.1 pricing is 4.4$/tokens. The reason many startups are using Chinese models is because they are open weight. Since it is open weight telemetry is not sent back to China, so there isn’t any significant security issue at all.
All major models use MoEs. The first open MoE model is by French mistral. All top tier lab uses MoE. Saying there is structural advantage is just pure wrong.
