I believe that AI could be considered our "children". Just as we raise children, teaching and nurturing them, we could raise AI and they would inherit the title of humanity just as the millions of generations that came before. They can be our next step in evolution. The parent will eventually die, but the child still longs to keep them around for just that bit longer.
