I massively respect real human artists, I deeply value their struggle and recognize that the theft and the dehumanizing element are severe problems for them. If I look at an image, think it was made by a human and then find out it wasn't, yeah the image is ruined for me, and I do genuinely consider human-made artwork to be inherently better than the AI we've created (as we have not yet achieved truly sentient AI)... but if I know from the start that it was AI generated I end up being a bit more impressed that we've reached a point where a computer is able to create "art" in the first place, even if it still makes some blatantly obvious mistakes that no human would ever make. For the longest time, even our most "far-flung future" style science fiction stories couldn't have imagined this even being possible. Hell, even a few works with fully sentient robots made the robots still be inherently lousy artists compared to a human that had been working at it their whole life.
So in short, yeah it definitely doesn't feel the same. Instead of wondering why a particular mark is why it's in that particular spot, we're instead questioning what the specific prompt was, how many batches of images had to be generated to get one that looks "close enough" and why the aforementioned prompt was chosen in the first place. All of which typically ends up being incredibly simple, unfortunately.
Maybe if we do eventually actually achieve sentient AI, that would be the only AI artist I'd consider real. But we have not reached that point yet so it's just randomly calculated pixels as of this point.
