For 1 second I thought YouTube actually put in an AI commercial right after you mentioned it 😭
People saying it's more cost-effective and has a low entry cost etc. is funny to me. Like just the server cost alone are abyssal nowadays.. Generating stuff is hella expensive and just like U said, the only reason why we can even afford to use it, are investors
For me AI is merely a tool to optimise my workflows - for example if I want to edit a picture I can easily mask the entire sky with a click and adjust its colours instead of having to do it manually
Generally speaking things like this are the backbone of actual uses for AI in my opinion
Or I ask AI to help research the internet to look for Artists or prompts for Pinterest to actually find specific stuff for inspiration / mood boards
So for me, yes it's an art tool, but not in the sense of generating stuff but rather improve my workflow so I can focus more on the actual creation and fun at doing art
