Conflating Ai and robotics feels like two very different conversations. AI is the much larger threat as it cannot exist without copyright infringement and theft of the people's labor and data en masse- it is also on the brink of destroying verifiable data as we know it and flooding the internet with indistinguishable disinformation. We are going to lose our ability to communicate reliably across the globe and find trustworthy information / news from anywhere farther than our own backyard. It is also, ironically, not very good at doing people's jobs (despite the extreme forced adoption and hype). Robotics can replace certain repetitive manual labor jobs, but that does not require copyright infringement of any kind, and it is a stretch to call the jobs being replaced "good" jobs. Factory jobs and transportation jobs are notoriously brutal and pay below living wage. It would also be extremely difficult to regulate "robotics", as each one is typically uniquely designed for one small task, many factories already have machines like this. Would those need to be ripped out? How do you define a "robot" in this case? Making older careers obsolete is not enough of a reason to regulate something, or else we would not be able to transition to clean energy, better public transportation, etc.
Tax the big companies using robotics and/or outsourcing labor to other countries and implement UBI. Get rid of generative AI altogether.
