I agree that when it comes down to it, patients will always prefer a doctor looking over their information. People may not trust AI.
However, I also think you are underestimating the intelligence of future AI systems by comparing AI to older systems like the EKG. There may be a time AI is better at doing anything a doctor does for all specialties, even surgery (already have robots operated by humans, that can be translated to AI). But at the end of the day, the patient has to choose if they want an AI or a surgeon to operate on them. Maybe more trust in AI will be around in the far future, but I know it takes a long time to get people to trust something, even if studies show how much better it may be.
