Intelligence begins with sentience, and no collection of silicone chips will ever be sentient no matter how much they are programmed to simulate self-awareness. “AI” is just a very elaborate cause-and-effect machine. The activity of intelligent beings begins with agent causation. Computer programs are always a series of event causation and never traces back to any agent cause until we get to the human agents that create it.
