Ignoring The Regression To The Mean In Natural Beauty In Humans In Populations
People have an “idea” of what beautiful women and men look like. Sure, no one has a percentage of the population but we, as a species, KNOW that what we consider the most “beautiful”/“handsome” in young women/men in their society or in any particular population of the place intuitively KNOW THAT THE PERCENTAGE IS LOWER THAN 50% (lower than the mean/average of such population). But why AI and human artists ignore the natural bell curve of beauty and create only or most beautiful ones? I believe AI and human painters create ASPIRATIONS FOR QUALITIES and perfect features in their subjects in painters’ “eyes” and AI’s selected AI databases (ahem, no human is perfect on a picture or painting —except your loved ones😊), while humans are surrounded with average people.
