As someone who DOES use generative AI, I would never dare call it art. I feel like the internet is split between "AI art is just as good as real art!" and "Generative AI is just soulless and takes zero effort!" While I do lean towards the latter, there are a lot of utility I believe Generative AI could have. I DO NOT believe it could ever compare to real art, but in cases where the art itself isn't the focal point, it could help people with low artistic skills/ no budget for commissions help communicate ideas in the short term. As I said, it could not/will never compare to the genuine effort a human puts into art, but in the scenario where you don't necessarily need quality yet, it could be a TEMPORARY standin. Just my two cents. If anyone wants to discuss this, I'm open to having my mind changed.
