So in his tweet he says that he's likes to write on his own and that he can do a better job writing than the AI can but doesn't see that if he applies this logic to his "drawing skills", it's the exact opposite argument that he's making? He learned how to draw to some extent sure but he's half-assing it. He does the part that comes easy to him (because he put time and effort in learning it) but doesn't want to bother learning how to finish his art. Then he "prompts" the AI to do it for him... So how can he call himself an artist in that case? He's not using AI as a tool, he's using it as a crutch to make up for the part he clearly lacks or is uninterested in doing himself. This isn't speeding him up, this is half-assing an already half-assed attempt... He's committed to the idea of being the "idea man" and that "AI can realize my exact thoughts" that he genuinely thinks the AI is capable of reading his mind. The moment you delegate your thinking to a machine is the moment you'll stop thinking for yourself. The moment you delegate work to a machine is the moment you'll stop doing it yourself. For work like washing clothes, sure. Labor intensive handwashing is tedious and time consuming. If my machine does it, I can do something else: make myself some food, catch up on work, watch some shows, etc. But what happens now when you also delegate creative processes to a machine? Well, you get person who's given themselves permission to be lazy because they're waiting for "something better" to come their way (which will never come). Manual labor is beneath them, creative work is beneath them. What else is there? What's next, delegating actual human connections and friendships to AI too so you truly don't have to bother living your life? ...I don't think he's proud of his work. His proud of his accomplishments so far but he understands that he can't finish his artwork. So he tries to convince himself (and others) that the AI can do a better job than him BUT he still wants to TAKE CREDIT for it. And he's doing this because he's insecure.
