The thing is, it isn't even just artists. As a physicist, and really all the sciences, I have seen it creep slowly to the capacity of PhD level researchers and professors. While certainly, it isn't perfect at mathematics always, it gets dang close a good 70-80% of the time now. In the course of about ~5 years, I have seen it go from barely making a sentence to nearly being able to replace every low level and mid level software engineer, UI developer, and completely decimated junior graphical designers. I have programmed games and websites ~10 years, and now pursuing physics as well. Even as a polymath, I can say AI is really honestly even beating me at basically everything. In terms of general knowledge and ability, I don't think any human will have the capacity of AI for the years forward. It does struggle with specialized skillsets, however.
