the cheaper it is to create a successfull company, the more specialized will the company market become. Just as there is a labor market there is a company market, and everyone will be able to create companies more easily. I work as an ai and data engineer for big companies, i have seen dozens of them, and they are super inneficient and unproductive to the point that smaller companies can compete if they had the same knowhow or logistical capabilities. Automation drives the gap between those companies closer (ai helps not only with automation, but with statistical knowledge generation) so, the true "solution" and future we are going to see is becoming your own company, a rise of the freelancer or the mercenary business (you work your specific role for a short period of time and then change client). The impact on purchase power is not as fatalistic , you see, with automation and a bigger company market with more offer, we will see a decrease in prices, which is basically what has always happened in history, so buying stuff will be cheaper. (this wont happen in the united statess, but the fault is not capitalism, its the opposite, the state regulation that benefits lobbies and big companies and makes barriers of entry to small companies ,generating holes of corruption in key industries like healthcare and real estate) Do you know why you can make videos and post fatalistic comments here and people could not before? its because now its cheaper. Automation what causes really is a reduction of specific labor markets, but , this creates time that, can be reinvented in creating new company markets or expanding existing labor markets. ai can do many things, but it sure as hell wont cure cancer or healing a wound in the near future. If you really are unemployed because of ai, you should just pick an industry that everyone will need, like health, realestate or agriculture, and find a role in it you tolerate and like and it is needed. Capitalism is not about what the world can do for you so you can become rich , its about what you can do for the world so you can become rich. The problem is not automation, is the barriers that the governmentes create that make difficult creating companies that can compete with big companies. There used to be no ai regulation, so you could just experiment and see if you hit jackpot, not you need a legal team to.make an ai generally available, this creates problems not for the big company that can afford the lawyers, but for the small companies. The big companies destroyed capitalism not with capitalism itself, but by socialism. If you live in the united states, your problem is your lobbying and how your elections work, not ai. Automation has always been more good than bad, this time wont be differemt. If there really comes a point where a few companies can generate all goods, so no labor is needed, you know whats going to happen? its going to be super easy for a competent group of people to ally , compete and provide those goods almost for free or cheaper. People need to be smart about what job and industry they pick but there will be jobs, somewhere. You just need to be flexible and adapt. You cant just study anything anymore, economics is now an essential skill for survival. Its what happens when you triple your population, the fight for resources becomes more efficient. Its all darwin at the end of the day.
