I actually disagree, we might be missing a bigger point. Even if the work is produced by AI, it didn’t enter and win an art competition which uniquely generated a global conversation about what role human’s play in a world where artificial intelligence exists. Articles are monetizing this work, even this video is monetizing the work. It is a singularly unique piece of art. Not all art is beautiful but if it inspires endless news coverage, thought pieces and reacts, then it’s art full stop. Maybe it’s lame, pathetic, whatever you want to call it, it’s still art. I’m sure it wasn’t his motivation, but this is Dadaism for the modern world. Just as a counterpoint, Disney will use AI to generate stories and characters, and they will ge their copyright protection
