Nothing to do with purpose, there are not that many people who go to their job because they fell like they are filled with purpose, it is simply filling activity that we lack nowadays outside of job.
Anyway in my personal opinion, AI will take over the world, it is just about the way it does it and I think controlled AI is way more dangerous then sentient AI, controlled Ai will be worst traits of humanity on steroids, sentient AI will come to right conclusions.
