I think this lady how much of the economy is rote clerical work that current AI models could completly replace once fine tuned and deployed, even without reaching AGI. Tough I do agree transformers are a "dead end", I also think they will help build their succesors, so are they really a dead end? nobody is saying that the current paradigm is the definite form to AI
