When it comes to AI/AGI, the trial and error attitude isn't acceptable or safe, because it's already been released for public use. That, in itself, has created a back door which no-one will be able to lock. "Trustworthy"? "Sustainable"? What makes these so-called "experts" think they could have any control over an invisible entity that is totally devoid of any form of conscience? Ah, ego? Ethics, transparency, and consent? On whose terms? That may depend on who feeds AI and what is fed to it, as well as who swallows it. Controlling the inevitable is a pure myth, as it is unachievable. Gender? Oof, that's a subject which could go on forever, particularly because of the current trend surrounding it. However, I would question whether AI would take that into account when it generates descriptions of "man"kind. After all, we are only its creator and, therefore, just as much a non-entity to it as it is to us. For example, those who believe in a deity of some kind have never seen it, and have no idea what it may even look like. We are delving into the vast unknown without any knowledge of what will transpire from that process, and have already found AI to be developing far faster and greater than anyone had anticipated. "Creating guardrails to protect society and the planet" is something which should have been set up beforehand, but in hindsight....................... You're walking down a very long corridor, with many doors to the left and to the right. Eventually, you reach the end of that corridor and find yourself facing two doors, one black and one white. Which door will you choose to open? If your life depends on that decision, it's a quandary which cannot be dismissed.
