On the issue of property rights. The UK had tried a system of opt out for creatives to remove their work from the datasets that these AI firms would use for their models. This was quickly dropped due to (the rightful) push backs from those in the creative industry against this (it helps when you have people like Elton John helping with advocating for your industry).
Once the UK govt dropped the idea, in very short time AI firms started to turn around and say they were dropping additional investment in the UK.
So, a question to the panel for another time is: How do govts that are already feeling squeezed on their finances thread the needle on protection of industry and people as well as developing a new industry like AI?
