The closing statement I fully agree with, which is the main reason I'm not that worried about AI. In 1997 Deep Blue (a computer) beat Kasparov in a chess match. And a few people back then advocated that this was horrible and it would kill chess, yet it didn't. Like not even close. Why? Because chess is not about the best moves, it's about the very human element of it. It's not about the game, it's about the players, the way people are trying to become the very best at something. AIs are playing chess against each other all the time, yet barely anyone watches that. People watch the human matches, because it's about the humans, not about the game. The same is true in art, it's about the humans behind the art and much less about the art itself most of the time. The only place it's really worrisome I think in visual art for the beginning artist. The cheap artist making small amounts of money with stuff like concept art and art for small projects is gonna die. And that's of course is an important part of an artist's journey. Why pay an artist 5 bucks when you can get a similar result faster for free? Will that kill the artform? No, people will still make art because they love making it and if you really want to break through you can do it anyway, but it does make it a lot harder to break through. And any barrier of entry into the arts will make it more difficult for artists to break through, thus less artists will do so.
