The real question for me is will artificial super intelligence lead to massive depopulation of the planet even if it can be controlled? Will those with the power & influence decide they don't need other human beings ?
To push the question as far as possible let's ask this : if the top 2 million wealthiest people got together and realised that they had super artificial intelligence under control & they didn't need any other people in order for them to live happy lives would they be happy to see the rest of us gone ?
