The manner in which AI is being presented to us by business is that it’s major purpose is to provide huge known and as yet, unknown benefits with it’s use.
Ultimately and very quickly AI will grow to become super intelligence which may be where the real danger exists.
In a perfect world the wonderful benefits of this intelligence should firstly be felt with huge advances towards a solution for all problems associated with ageing and pandemics followed by other solutions on matters of deeply concerning interest to humanity, our climate, nature and animal kingdom.
World peace, of special interest to beauty pageants however, is quite realistic because that’s only common sense or put another way it’s really quite an ‘intelligent’ thing to attempt.
Not only intelligent, because, guess what, if the politicians of this world want to save big money and you have achieved world peace you’ll find the largest employers on this planet are the USA Military, India Military, closely followed by the People’s Republic of China Military.
Wonder what AI would ‘intelligently’ think about these people whose employment is to be a threat to others they think ‘might’ want to be a threat to them or to destroy everything before their ‘enemy’ destroys everything. Perhaps AI would recommend the sacking of this entire workforce. That’s a good thing, isn’t it?
Unfortunately, in our world, AI ‘will be used’ so that it’s dominant purpose is to provide an opportunity to totally control an extremely cheap AI-provided ‘slave’ workforce for the ’mass production’ capitalists of our world.
These people are already the richest people on this planet and they already control all of the governments on this planet and therefore it follows that they also control all of the people on this planet through employment yet they see the opportunity to make even more fortunes by using AI to provide their slave workforce.
How do I see this going? For starters, if AI agrees that there is no intelligent reason to continue to employ a military in any nation, then they would be sacked and we achieve world peace. Don’t we?
What will people whose only skills are to shoot other people, do when they have no income?
The elected politician? If we have no public servants because they have been replaced by AI. Why would we need to elect a person to carry out what AI suggests as the perfect way to run a country? I’m pretty confident that the majority of Aussies feel that Politicians are in the ‘who cares’ basket.
How long before a CEO discovers that a large, global, unemployed workforce can no longer afford to purchase their products?
I used to be a CEO of my own company and I totally enjoyed making enough money to enjoy my retirement. However, I cannot imagine having all of that opportunity taken from me had I built a company that finally excelled in reducing it’s customer base to just 5% of what it previously enjoyed.
I surely have no need to dig any deeper to outline a pretty negative future even if I’m only right about some of what I foresee.
What is a possible solution to AI? If I’m correct and the only future ‘problem’ with AI is in how business and government may use it, perhaps we should see that AI in some areas is not only disruptive, it is positively destructive and it is only the destructive aspect we should really concern ourselves about. All of the past major changes in industry were ‘disruptive’ and that is good. We still have cars and horses don’t we?
I have had my say, what’s yours?
