No one who thinks about the future wants to risk wasting 4 years for MAYBE getting a job that required the degree in the first place. Also, jobs are relying on degrees too much to prep workers, especially in the age of a.i, when it is easier than ever to just cheat to a degree. Then they wonder why the new hires can't do shhhh. We need straight up dedicated job training programs that do not take years until you finally get a job. We will have millions of people who will need to switch careers very soon. We need apprenticeships on a mass scale to teach people to transition while they earn money. We need apprenticeships for tech jobs, trades, accounting and everything that can be taught, which is everything. STOP GATEKEEPING JOBS AND MAKE A PATH TO THEM FOR THOSE WILLING TO LEARN. THERE SHOULD NOT BE ONLY 1 PATH THAT IS A MAYBE TO DECENT PAYING JOBS.
