Oh, the disabled artist defence really grinds my gear. While I'm not an artist in the sense of like drawing art, I am a writer. And I frequently did Nanowrimo (where you write 50k words a day in the month of November) and they came out saying that it's okay if you use AI to write your novels, one of the defence was that it's very abelist and classist to say that using AI for your novels is bad. Myself, and so many other disabled writers in the community, just slapped our foreheads at that statement. Like, so tone-deaf, and it's giving "uwu think of the disabled". Do my disabilities get in the way of my writing? Fuck yes, it does. But I don't justify it with using AI to write my novels. I still cannot fathom that they decided to okay this. Along with the other controversies they had around the time too. I've been participating for 10+ years, and last year I decided that 2023 was my final year. Oh well.
