I think another big no no for using ai images as refrences for your own art is that a lot of ai is built on “pleasing” they want to be inoffensive and as comercial friendly because the focus IS MONEY. So when you use ai images as refrences, you are taking inspiration from a chopped up chewed up AVERAGE of stolen art. I think refrencinf other artists and art styles is beneficial when you look at the radical differences and growth in their art. For a quick example, Examining Picasso’s journey from pretty realistic art to his cartoonish broken anatomy really taught me that my art should be about purpose and not looking pretty- there’s nothing wrong with pretty of course, but how are you going to grow as an artist if you’re stuck in one note?
