I don't see AI as being any different than what we've seen over the past 50 years with computers. I do think that generally we need to develop mechanical fail safes for critical applications. Imagine computer viruses with AI capabilities that can extort you, empty your bank account, shut down oil pipelines, launch nuclear weapons, etc. As we increasingly rely on computers, that is what makes us vulnerable. Regulation of AI will do nothing to prevent any of this, however.
