I like art but I'm no artist. I am absolutely terrible at it in pretty much every way. If I were to use AI to generate a "work of art", I can assure you, it has nothing to do with me in it's creation. It would be entirely a result of the AI. The AI is all there is at that point. The question is, is it art? Well, I'm not sure if that's really the question. Is the AI art a for of plagiarism? Is that the real question? What if every piece of art, image etc had be given permission for use to train the AI? What then, is it art or still plagiarism albeit consented? I really think there are several different issues at play here, is it art is just one. If you break it all down into separate issues and address them you may see where all the issues are. It's all a mess and it's really not limited to just art. I think it's been sprung on society in a poor way & it's looking more like a series of car crashes rather than something useful and productive. I have no idea how it will end, if it all gets smoothed out or just ends in tears for all parties. I am sure a lot of people will get hurt and a few people will get richer no matter the outcome. Pretty bad really, makes my heart wither a little every day.
