I think a lot of artwork (and art-jobs) is commodity product.
Yes a single isolated painting is an obvious example of an artist's creative work.
But what about one sand texture in a videogame? That kind of work is already often just copied out of a texture library (but we still notice when a game's sand texture has a bit of flair or character that compliments the rest of the game world).
Unfortunately AI art can successfully replace the majority of artist-jobs. That's because there is no space in a market for every artist to get to be a... Gibli painter. Some are texture artists.
And their job has been commodified, they were forced to learn skills for the sake of the commodity and output, rather than creative exploration. Those artists will occassionally be there ready to add a dash of themselves to a work, but the business only requires their commodity. So if AI gets good enough, these artists won't be on the payroll anymore. And won't be there to add their creative works when the oppurtunity arises.
A lot of large productions will become worse, but also, the artist economy will crumble. Not because the artists didn't add anything, but because they only add something beyond their basic labour, once in a while.
And our capitalist economy doesn't leave room for a person to spend their entire life learning a skill and art, only to get paid part-time gig work once in a while. And the business people in charge of everything don't even value art, they just want to make money.
Which, by the way, is not a businesses purpose. The money making is only necessary to keep it afloat, any money beyond that is straying from the purpose of the business. Which is to deliver a product or service.
