I don’t like to be a pessimist but I feel like we’re screwed on this one. We have so many problems in this world and instead coming together on a global scale to solve them as a species, we just play our little games for whatever team we’re on. Whether it be US vs China, republican vs democrat, rich vs poor etc. we can’t seem to put aside our differences for the good of the species. So if AI progresses and becomes a threat to human existence, do you really think we will just change our nature overnight to meet the threat? Something mild in comparison like the covid pandemic should be a telling sign of how humanity will respond. Some will do what’s right but I believe there are enough evil people in this world to doom us before we even stand a chance.
