Around 10 years ago, I translated a lecture of a Swiss-German professor who was behind one of the biggest projects on neural networks, and the things he said they could achieve were astounding. At the time, even Google didn't know his work, because it was that secret. Now, forget OpenAI, it was way before all these companies popped up, and they've overtaken the world in a matter of some 5 years... Imagine what the world will look like in another 10 years.
This is what I got out from this most enlightening interview. First, Black Mirror is just around the corner, and it's no fiction. Secondly, we're doomed because the main point of capitalism is to make more money by any means possible, and companies will never ever willingly limit their opportunities. And as the governments basically ARE these companies, well... I guess, we're just left to enjoy whatever little time we have.
