"Fountain" is actually such a good litmus test for braindead art takes. One of the most interesting things about it is that it isn't just some urinal duchamp found. It is actually a sculpted, custom piece, and examining it closely would reveal that it could not effectively function as a urinal at all. It creates the IMPRESSION of a urinal by aping a familiar shape, and then the furor about the piece cemented said impression. Meanwhile the whole time it actually *was* a "real" sculpture, and the detractors who argued duchamp was a lazy prick who picked up a gross fkin urinal off some rubbish heap and called it art were the ones who were too lazy to really look closely at the art they were criticizing.
Anyway it's a cool piece of art history regardless of whether one "likes" it or not, and AI gen defenders are just mad the closest they'll ever get to something like it is accidentally generating nonsense geometry and excess fingers.
