I used AI to help me design a super simple stock market simulation algorithm for a game mod that needed to be limited to base package python. The best way to use it is as like an instructor giving you pseudocode for some concept you're trying to grasp, figuring out the concepts behind it, then writing the actual code yourself. The fact that you can say "hey so this output doesn't look good, give me something a little less random" or "give me something a little more influenced by some external variables" without having to spend a lot of time working things out and adjusting your code between test runs is a godsend. It abstracts a lot of the technical stuff away when you need to focus more on the creative aspect.
