The designers of the software explained the software cannot adapt to sudden changes in the weather such as a blizzard or even a torrential downpour of rain. 5. The software cannot adapt to complicated driving such as city driving. 6. The nation's entire road structure would have to be altered to accomodate the truck's sensors. Yes, trucks do take rural roads and some of them are narrow and still gravel surfaced. 7. No one is going to hire and pay anyone to learn how to perform a proper D.O.T. required pre-trip inspection of that truck. 8. The software cannot get out of the truck to check and make sure the straps or chains are securing the load to the flatbed. 9. The software cannot get out of the truck to check for overheated tires on flammable or explosive loads. The truck driver will not lose their job. They don't even eliminate train engineers and no one ever needs to steer a train. I can tell there aren't many deep thinkers in the software industry but one day they might just begin to think about these points.
