It’s coming whether we like it or not. It will be all about the bottom line and the human fallout will be bulldozed to one side. It won’t just be drivers who lose their jobs. Rest stops, motels service stations etc will become redundant too. I drive a HGV in the UK and DAF are already testing “Platooning” but the practical implications will take years to iron out. There are 46 million registered vehicles in the UK and a lot of the places I go will not be accessible by automated trucks. Humans are still currently able to complete tasks automation cannot but money and profit will force the issue. As for zero fatalities; utter rubbish. Nothing is that secure or reliable if built by humans in the first place. We are just seeing the next phase of technological advances just like the start of the Industrial Revolution back in the UK in 1750. Mechanisation was relentless and totally transformed society and this is just another phase, you will not stop it, ever.
