I know this is a wildly reductive statement, but as somebody that has spent over a decade in IT, I can tell you there is absolutely such a thing as too much automation. I cannot tell you how many times I've seen companies and departments try to automate something that on the surface seems very doable, just for it to crash and burn. This is just economic globalization version of that.
It's going to cool down, it's got to back off a bit, yes it's always going to be a little different, but it's going to plateau and we're all going to learn to just sink into it together.
