How you're going to feel about AI image generation likely boils down to whether art is a passion for you, or a tool.
For me, it's a tool. I'll use the tablet monitor when I NEED to, but if I can avoid taking the time or spending money on someone ELSE to take the time, rest assured I will. For the same reason I own a cotton and polyester shirts with no regard for what happened to the bulk of talented loommakers and the like in history.
In a similar vein. I can do woodworking and metalworking to some extend by hand, too... but bet your butt I'll get a CNC and hit a 'do it for me' button at some point in my life.
