I think it's a bit wild to say illustration as a career is just going to go away. As I'm sure you know, there's a lot more to illustration than just creating an image dictated by a client. Sure projects like that exist, and I do believe projects like that will mostly go away. But those of us that have moved beyond that kind of work are hired for their ideas and they way we can communicate a message in a unique way. I think you sort of say this later in the video—just not about illustration in general. I see correlations between this situation and how dramatically things changed for illustration when photography became more widely accessible. Illustration almost disappeared from advertising for a period until it came storming back when people began to realize that illustration could communicate and express in a way that is not possible with a photo. I know this is an over simplification but, I do believe that there will always be a demand and desire for work created by a human, infused with uniquely human experiences that an AI may eventually be able to conceptualize but never experience. There's also the possibility of our value as illustrators increasing (those that persist) as higher brands want to elevate themselves from the rest. Maybe similar to brands like Aston Martin that are hand building cars when clearly that's not the easiest most cost effective solution. (I'm also aware that this scenario isn't ideal due to the fact that it still results in a dramatic decrease in people that can make a living as illustrators). Who knows, maybe this comment will look naive in the future...
