I do think people will still want books. But writers are gonna struggle more. Not necessarily with sales and publishers, but I think most people here are aware that only a small minority of professional writers actually make enough from their writing alone to rely on that income. Most have a dayjob, and it's natural to have a dayjob somewhat related to writing, though of course not all writers do. And when those corporate writing gigs are taken over by AI because it's "good enough" to write a website piece, etc. that income is gonna dwindle. And it already is for some. AI would impact the creative writing industry significantly even IF every publisher and reader agreed to never touch AI written stuff.
