We don’t need bots to be human FOR us! There’s inherent meaning and value in the human experience and nobody should make it their goal to undermine why what we do as humans matters in the first place. We like art because of the fact that it is uniquely human. Fuck those text bots that churn out junk so a human being doesn’t have to engage with others, think critically and produce work based on facts rather than sludge that only achieves to mimic the appearance of but not the integrity or credibility of human work. It’s looking at a medium that is used to communicate and organise human thought and ideas (eg. essays) and saying that what matters is that something can produce something that looks like an essay; the essay itself doesn’t mean shit, it’s just a format that a human is using to communicate their ideas, and it’s those ideas that we value. We want to engage with other humans, express experiences and ideas and learn new things, and visual arts, writing, music, acting have value because they are being used to convey meaning between humans. We don’t want the medium, that AI attempts to imitate, replicate and replace; what we want is to engage with the ideas, the human thoughts and ideas, that they use a medium to express. It’s what is intended by and who creates a work that has value, not uncritical, uninformative trash AI makes.
You can ask an AI to write an essay for you, but you have absolutely no idea if any of the information is correct. It’ll form an opinion, a stance on something and run with it, with no time taken by a person to actually consider different perspectives and decide anything for themselves. No discovery. At most someone will be forming an opinion based on the shit that pops out of a generator and consuming generated content and basing their points of view based on generated crap, with no critical thought to what’s happening outside of what an algorithm will churn out when you put shit in from thoughts you have that were informed by other AI generated content someone consumes. That’s AT BEST. It doesn’t find anything new, it doesn’t give you a chance to really look at the source of an idea, an event, and see it yourself and engage with others and have meaningful human discourse.
We don’t need machines to have opinions for us, to express human experiences instead of us. The agency and integrity of everything is lost when it’s scrambled through a machine who can tell you something that looks human but wasn’t actually thought, felt, or experienced by a person.
I’m so fucking tired of this shit man.
Btw there’s several amazing comments about the flaws in these poisoning systems and how they can be bypassed and alternative suggestions for more effective bullshittery, so go find them if you are planning on poisoning the Ai well.
