It's an open question whether AI will destroy humanity in an "us versus it" competitive struggle; nobody can yet state this with any degree of certainly. However, it it 100% certain that people will use AI to degrade and enslave ourselves. We know this because we're already doing ity with AI's precursor -- the user engagement algorithms employed to ultimately drive corporate profitability and stock prices. AI, at the very least, will turbocharge this societally-deadly practice.
