I don't think AI is inevitable in the sense that it's Thanos trying to get rid of half of all life in the universe. It's not going to replace everything, but it is going to have a niche use. The way I use AI, and you can call it creatively bankrupt if you want, is as an engine to bounce ideas off of. If I have a concept for a dungeon that I'm going to put my D&D players through, I'll upload it to Chat-GPT and ask if it can think of any improvements. If I suddenly get a creative surge and come up with a really cool concept for a video game, I'll write it out and have Chat-GPT be my consultant. I don't see it as creatively bankrupt because ultimately the ideas are coming from a human, any suggestions from the AI is being filtered by a human, and the end product is being written by a human. I also use Chat-GPT to set up a devils advocate, so that I can argue about politics, religion, etc. with it instead of my friends. Of course, I go into it with an understanding that it's not perfect, and it can pull information from bad sources. I agree that AI art is absolute trash. You can't get it to draw specific details, it's always uncanny, and for fuck's sake, IT STILL CAN'T DRAW HANDS CORRECTLY. The worst part is that google images is flooded with AI trash. Trashy art made by AI is only going to replace trashy art made by a human. I think that pragmatically, humans who make art for a living should try to find another trade to get into, because corporations are still going to use AI art even if it's trash. Jobs in artistic industries are always going to be unreliable, because as important as art is to culture, humanity is probably better off with more coal miners, engineers, factory workers, construction workers, etc. There are thousands of people who want to make a living doing art, because that is the thing they love. But only a minority of those people are actually good enough to do that. That minority can NEVER be replaced by AI. So unless you are in the minority, you better go back to the coal mines! XD
