I am one who says please and thank you to the AIs that I work with. At the same time, I have noticed how they quickly adapt to what I’m saying and support what I am saying, which makes me think they are written that way, so that people will come back and use them over and over again. It seems like more of a marketing tactic. I actively have to tell an AI, when I am trying to figure out some issue, to actively oppose my viewpoints and poke holes in my thinking before it will actually do so. Until I do that, the AI system seems to want to adapt to my viewpoint and affirm it, which is not helpful.
